Rehearsal Parts

1. A-Soalin (Ronald Staheli, arranger)

Please note the following corrections / changes to the score:

1. Tenors. Please begin singing at measure 25, not measure 17.

2. Soprano/Alto split at the top of page 17, measure 180:
Soprano 1 sing the top layer of notes.
Soprano 2 sing the middle layer of notes, as well as the upper pick-up note in measure 180.
Alto 2 sing the lower layer of the three starting at measure 180 through measure 184. Switch to the lower Alto part picking up to measure 185. It's basically the same part you were singing with the sopranos, so it makes sense for Alto 2 to jump up to the three-way split, and NOT the Alto 1s.

3. Sopranos. Measure 225, note how the syllables of "mer - ry" are divided.
I would like you to sing the "-ry" syllable on the last TWO notes of the run, rather than just the last note. It's easier to sing with two notes on the syllable.

4. Tenor split, measures 228-233:
Both parts sing together at m. 226. Tenor 2 sings "p-lease, good Missus"
Tenor 1 sings "Love and joy come to you" (words are above the staff),
Tenor 2 sings "and God bless you".

NEW to singing in a choir and/or reading music?

Here is a YouTube video introduction to understanding the basics of reading notes and rhythm which you may find helpful. Created by Tim Hansen, I think it's a great explanation for a beginner about the nuts and bolts of music. Enjoy!

Everything you wanted to know about music theory - ONLINE and FREE at sonicfit.com

Visit this link for lessons on note-reading, theory of music, complete with exercises to help you improve your skills.

Try to work through these lessons and exercises a little each week and it will make a big difference to your choir experience!

Remember, becoming a good sight reader of music requires a little practice every day!

Please refer to this list to check on anthems still in your folder that have already been sung, and should be turned in. If you see any anthems in your folders that we have already sung, please return them to me at rehearsals. This will help us to keep the music organized.
